About me

I am Reader in Urban Futures in King’s College London and Programme Director of its MA/MSc Sustainable Cities degree. My research and writing uses approaches from sociology, anthropology, feminist and critical geography and broadly focuses on the politics of citizenship and urbanization across the global north and south. I am co-editor of ‘Translocal Geographies: Spaces, places, connections’ in 2011 and author of ‘The Illegal City: Space, law and gender in a Delhi squatter settlement’ in 2012 published by Ashgate. My forthcoming co-edited books ‘Mega-urbanization in the global South: Fast cities and new urban utopias of the postcolonial state’ by Routledge and ‘Ecological Citizenships in the global south’ by Zed Books will be published in 2017. I am author of over 30 articles in peer reviewed journals as well as two films ‘City bypassed’ and City forgotten’.

I am currently editor of Dialogues in Human Geography and Urban Geography. I am also on the editorial boards of Antipode, Gender, Place and Culture, and Society and Space.
